Bringing your Performance to Life

Hi everyone and a very Happy New Year to all of you!!!

My name is Deborah Torres Patel. I was a professional performer for 34 years and have been teaching Voice, Presentation & Full Self Expression in one form or another for about 20 years.


The reason I've started this blog is because I love singers and their great passion to express themselves through song.

No matter what your level of ability is, you can learn to quickly sing what I call "the songs of your soul". The songs that are meaningful to you. The songs that tell your story and that allow you to shine in your own radiant light.

Over the years, I have seen that there are 5 key pieces that fit together to make a confident performance so I thought I'd share them with you.

  1. Bringing Your Body to Life - Being physically warmed up before singing
  2. Bringing Your Voice to Life - Doing a few vocal exercises to get you ready to sing the type of music you like and to work out your range to prepare for what you will be singing
  3. Bringing Your Lyrics/Language/Words to Life - Connecting with the meaning of a song one word or even one sound at a time
  4. Bringing Your Presentation to Life - The songs that you choose, what you wear, how you move etc
  5. Bringing Your Audience to Life - How to touch and connect with the people you are singing to with the courage to authentically share your message with others.

My encouragement to you is to look at those 5 areas and begin to enjoy the profound journey to Expressing You!
